INTERNET PROGRAM FOR THE THIRD AGE
In the year 2007, EPA in partnership with FACAERO – Aeronautical School of Tuiuti University of Parana launched the program “Internet for the Third Age”, focusing to the aged population around the neighborhood and care institutions to elderly people in Curitiba.
The project EPA/FACAERO aims to insert in the virtual world those aged ones interested in the subject, but still could not have the chance to make it without instruction. Today, a great number of elderly people who spend most of the day in front of the television, can enjoy their free time with the new features of the world-wide web.
The final objective of the program is to enable the students to navigate through a webpage searching for interesting subjects or specific curiosities.
Methodology
In the EPA/FACAERO science computer laboratory, the students are guided by the instructors to turn on and disconnect a microcomputer correctly; to adequately recognize how to use a keyboard and a mouse; to correctly navigate on webpages; to select subjects through research pages such as “Google” and to surf the internet properly and safely.
During the program each student can use a microcomputer to put in place some activities.
Observation: To the students with movement disabilities are offered machines on the ground floor.
